League Guide

Learn how DuroMatch leagues work, how weekly challenges are organized, and what to expect as an individual player or team member.

Understanding DuroMatch Leagues

DuroMatch leagues are ongoing local competitions that help players find opponents, arrange matches, and measure their progress over time.

Unlike tournaments, league play gives participants considerable independence. Players or teams generally communicate directly, arrange a suitable time and place, play their match, and report the result through DuroMatch.

Each league follows a weekly challenge cycle. Participants use the League page to follow notices, review their status, view the ladder, find eligible opponents, and keep up with league activity.

Public Leagues

Public leagues are designed for eligible DuroMatch members in a supported area. You can find them through the Browse Leagues page by searching for a sport and location.

Eligibility may depend on the league's sport, location, division, age requirements, format, and other league settings.

Things to Know

  • Regular public-league membership normally requires your profile country to match the league country.
  • Some leagues allow visitors from another country to participate as vacation participants.
  • DuroMatch explains the reason when your account is not eligible to join a particular league.

Private Leagues

Private Leagues are invitation-only communities created for a defined group, organization, club, workplace, school, family, or other private setting.

Private Leagues do not appear in normal public league searches. Membership begins with an invitation, and the league's administrators manage participation and league activity.

Because Private Leagues are invitation-only, the normal public-league country restriction does not apply to them.

A Private League may appoint an assistant moderator and may organize up to two league tournaments each year. Seasonal pauses are decided by the Private League administrator rather than by a membership vote.

Things to Know

  • You cannot join a Private League without an invitation.
  • Private League participation and administration are handled separately from public geographic administration.
  • If you are interested in establishing a Private League, use the appropriate request option in the Contact DuroMatch form.

Finding and Joining a League

Use Browse Leagues to search by sport and location. Open a league to review its format, division, activity, notices, ladder, and any eligibility information before joining.

If you are eligible, the League page provides a joining option. Team-league members may then create a team or request to join a team that can accept additional members.

If your location is not yet available, signed-in users may submit a Request Location Support request.

Creating a League

Members in supported locations may create a public league when an appropriate league-format template is available and the new league meets DuroMatch requirements.

The creation form guides you through the available sport, location, format, division, team, and scheduling options. Some league settings are determined by the selected format template so that the league begins with rules appropriate for its sport.

Things to Know

  • Your profile location must be complete and supported before you can create a public league.
  • DuroMatch may prevent creation of a duplicate or substantially similar league in the same area.
  • Private Leagues are created through a separate request and approval process.

Using the League Page

The League page is the central place for participating in a particular league. Depending on the league and your role, it may include:

  • League Notices
  • Community Resources
  • Your League Status
  • The DuroMatch Ladder
  • Eligible Challenge Targets
  • Teams and team information
  • League Tournaments
  • League Leaders and activity statistics
  • Recent match history

The page changes as league activity changes, so visiting it regularly is the easiest way to understand your current status and available actions.

The Weekly Challenge Cycle

DuroMatch leagues operate on a weekly cycle. The challenge and playing period begins Tuesday and continues through Sunday. Monday is reserved for confirmations, unresolved reports, and dispute review before the next cycle begins.

Challenges are normally issued from Tuesday through Friday so participants have enough time to coordinate and complete a match before the end of the week.

Things to Know

  • League weeks are calculated using the league's local time.
  • Commit to only one ranked league match for a particular weekly cycle.
  • Unresolved Monday disputes may prevent a match from affecting rankings until the issue is resolved.

Eligible Challenge Targets

The League page shows the higher-ranked entrants you are currently allowed to challenge. The list is calculated from the ladder, your current range, availability, weekly commitments, winner protection, team eligibility, and other league rules.

Regular entrants may challenge within their fixed positional range. If someone inside that range is unavailable or otherwise ineligible, that position is not normally replaced by someone farther up the ladder.

Once you have a weekly match commitment, the Eligible Challenge Targets section is hidden for the remainder of that week.

Issuing and Accepting Challenges

When you issue a challenge, the selected opponent receives a notification and may accept it if they remain eligible.

You may sometimes issue more than one outgoing challenge while waiting for a response. Once one challenge is accepted, your other outgoing challenges are canceled automatically. Other incoming challenges are also declined once you have committed to a match.

Things to Know

  • A challenge is not a match commitment until it is accepted.
  • After a challenge is accepted, communicate promptly with your opponent to arrange the match.
  • Participants who repeatedly avoid eligible challenges may temporarily lose the ability to challenge upward.
  • After losing an upward challenge, an entrant may be limited to accepting challenges during the following week.

Playing League Matches

League participants normally arrange the time and place of their match directly. DuroMatch provides participant messaging so the players or teams involved can coordinate the details.

If scheduling fails and the match cannot be completed, the participants should use the available reporting or dispute tools rather than entering an inaccurate result.

Both entrants are expected to make a reasonable effort to communicate, schedule, and complete the match during the weekly cycle.

Reporting and Confirming Results

After the match, one participant reports the result through My Matches. If the league format uses scores, the reporting form displays a score field. When that format requires a score, the result cannot be submitted without one.

The opposing participant reviews the report and either confirms it or opens a dispute. The participant who submitted the result cannot confirm their own report.

Once confirmed, the match is recorded, league statistics are updated, and any applicable ranking change is applied.

Rankings and Participation Points

The ladder reflects the current competitive order of active entrants. Ranking changes are based on confirmed results and the applicable challenge rules.

DuroMatch also records participation points. Completing a ranked match earns one point, and the winner receives one additional point.

Participation points recognize activity, while ladder rank shows competitive position. They serve different purposes and should not be interpreted as the same measure.

Availability and Inactivity

If you cannot participate during an upcoming league week, mark yourself unavailable before the weekly cycle begins whenever possible.

Unavailable entrants are excluded from normal challenge selection and may be passed in the ladder by active entrants below them. Marking yourself unavailable is preferable to ignoring challenges or failing to complete an accepted match.

Extended inactivity may lead to deactivation or removal under the league's lifecycle rules. An individual entrant who returns after inactivity normally rejoins at the bottom of the active ladder.

Winner Protection

The winner of a confirmed ranked match is normally protected from incoming challenges during the following league week.

This protection gives the winner a brief opportunity to move forward without immediately defending the same ladder position. The entrant ranked number one remains challengeable, even when they would otherwise have winner protection.

Super Challenger Mode

Super Challenger Mode helps a new or qualifying entrant move through the ladder by challenging the highest-ranked eligible opponent available above them.

A Super Challenger run continues while the entrant follows the required challenge path and keeps winning. The run may pause while the entrant is unavailable and ends when the entrant no longer satisfies the Super Challenger requirements.

Active Super Challengers are normally protected from incoming challenges unless they occupy the number one ladder position.

Things to Know

  • The League page identifies the required Super Challenger Target.
  • Super Challenger target selection may skip ineligible entrants and continue upward until the allowed number of eligible targets is found.
  • Completing a non-qualifying challenge may end an active Super Challenger run.

Teams and Team Leagues

In a team league, members participate through a team rather than as individual ladder entrants. Team captains handle challenge actions and coordinate team participation.

Members may create a team, request to join an existing team, or manage team membership according to their role. Teams must have enough active members to satisfy the league's required team size before they can participate normally.

A team that remains short of required players for an extended period may be deactivated until its roster is restored.

Things to Know

  • The captain issues and accepts team challenges.
  • Captaincy may be transferred through the team-management process.
  • Division and age requirements may apply to every active team member.

Vacation Participants

Some public leagues allow visitors to participate for a limited period as vacation participants.

This option allows a member to play while visiting another area without changing the country recorded in their regular profile. The league must explicitly allow vacation participation, and the member must provide the visit dates requested by DuroMatch.

Vacation participation is the intended way to join a public league outside your profile country.

League Disputes

If participants disagree about a reported result, no-show, scheduling issue, or conduct concern, they may open a dispute from the match controls in My Matches.

The appropriate administrator reviews the information available, may request comments from participants or witnesses, and makes a decision under the league rules. If necessary, the dispute can move through the administrative escalation path.

Things to Know

  • Use disputes for genuine issues that cannot be resolved directly.
  • Provide clear, accurate, and relevant information.
  • Continue monitoring notifications while a dispute is under review.
  • The official resolution determines how DuroMatch records the match.

Leaving and Rejoining a League

You may leave a league through the League page when the current league and team rules allow it. Team captains may need to transfer captaincy before leaving their team or league.

If you later rejoin an individual league, your entrant may be reactivated at the bottom of the active ladder rather than returning to a previous rank.

Leaving a league does not erase the historical results already recorded during your participation.
